QATAR AIRWAYS SUCK!!!

We have been flying home for the past 6 years with Emirates Airways, this year the school decided to use the "FIVE STAR AIRWAYS" because they were the cheapest...

A week ago, there was an article in the Kuwait Times about the expected exodus and that Kuwait Airways Company are allowing their passengers to go to the airport after midnight the day before they travel to check in their baggage, in order to avoid the long queues.

I wanted to check in last night - after midnight. I called the airport office of Qatar Airways yesterday morning, just to waste my time because nobody bothered to answer their phones. Eventually I got hold of another number. Spot on Pop! It was Qatar Airways! Just to be given another number: 22901777.
I called the number, the woman on the other side, sounded as if she knew what she was doing.
I asked her specifically if it will be allowed to check in our baggage after midnight for today's flight, not the online check in for passengers and she confirmed. In the mean time, I was trying to check in online.
At first, it kept on telling me that the web site had a problem, to try again later...
Then eventually, I was able to go to the next page, but only to check in for our connecting flight from Doha...
I kept on trying and trying to check in from Kuwait to Doha. No luck!!! Up to now I am unable to check in online on their "Fast and Easy System" WHAT A JOKE!!!
So at 12.30AM, we were at the airport this morning to check in our baggage. Just to be told by the ground staff that it was impossible to check in "so early". They referred me to the Qatar Airways office on the 1st floor. Got to the office, and the guy just said: "No, it cannot be done!" No apologies for the incompetent staff member on the phone who confirmed that it COULD be done. Instead, he just shook his head with a grin on his face!
This WILL be the last time that we will be traveling Qatar Airways!

Electronic Scoreboard Technician NEEDED!

My Electronic Scoreboard at school like the one above, has given me headaches for the past year. The guy that installed it two years ago, isn't around any longer...

Does anyone know of a company or technician in Kuwait that could repair it?

Trip to Bahrain

We flew out to Bahrain last week Thursday, first time with
Jazeera Air. Not bad at all...
My friend Hamad from Saudi told me not to miss out on ice-cream
from the Marble Slab Creamery... found it in Seef Mall.

I must be honest, this was THE BEST ice cream I have EVER had!!
Peanut butter chocolate with hot caramel sauce.... AMAZING!
A Funny sight was the London Cabs they use as taxi's. They even WOMAN cab drivers!

We rented a car, pretty cheap and drove around the island. One of the places that amazed me was the man-made islands that the built and then do developments on the islands.
Really beautiful places.

We wanted to go to the Adhari Fun Park, was quite a battle to get to the park! Drove into a very strange and old suburb, Adhari but managed to find our way out after a while...
We had so much fun on the rides! Because it wasn't over the weekend, there were only a few people at the park.

We had lunch at an Arabic Restaurant, first thing I noticed as we were sitting down, was the writing on the wall ;)

I wanted to see the Bahrain circuit so badly! Unfortunately it was closed on the day that we drove out there... It looked so big in real life, just having seen pictures of it before.

We drove around a lot, met up with this Bahraini guy who built his own Caterham. What a car!
When I asked him if he would mind if we take a look, he said he would be honored..
Close to the guy's house, is the biggest prehistoric cemetery in the world! It dates back to 3000BC. The dunes below are graves.

Visited Delmon Pottery, it was great to see how this guy created these pots. He sat in an opening in the floor, a kind of a hole in the floor, with a spinning wheel down below.. Very primitive way of making pottery!

The first night we arrived, we went to Rock Hard Cafe', the music, the food, the service was excellent! We were so surprised at about 11 PM, when they blasted the restaurant real loud music! All the staff gathered in the front and started dancing to the music, music that just wants you to join in! After a while, some guys did! :)

All in all, it was a great trip and we really enjoyed the break!

Dog Fights In Kuwait

We drove down to the Friday Market today and bought food for the tropical fish we have, I also wanted to have a look at the dogs for sale, when I saw people gathered around a fenced-in area. I walked over to see what was happening.

People were watching two dogs fight! I could not believe what I saw, blood all over, pieces of skin and flesh swinging in the air as they were fighting!

Absolute sickening! I gave it one look and got back in the car. As we drove home, I was wondering what kind of human being enjoys organizing/watching this?

It's sad!

Steroids in High School

Teaching Health , I was in my class room the other day, when I saw one student showing another student something on his upper arm. I wanted to see what they were talking about and walked up to them. They immediately stopped talking and I suspected there was something...

Off course, he denied everything when I asked him what all the red marks were, but later he told me he had taken some steroids "3 times" from a friend who is 21 and supplies the steroids to him for free. I started lecturing him about the side effects- he is only 18...
Blood pressure, acne, cholesterol, cardiovascular disease, coronary artery disease, baldness, gynecomastia, sexual function, infertility, stunned growth, to name but a few side effects...

Today, in PE, I called the same student and asked him if he had thought about what I told him. I noticed that sweat was just running off him (another side effect). He admitted that he used steroids more times than what he originally told me.
Asked if his dad knew about this, he said of course not...

I tried talking sense into him...

Do I just let him be?
Do I tell his dad, whom I have met?

What do I do? The guy is only 18 years old...
